PAC Analyzers Satisfy Refiners Exacting Standards

Key concerns of the refinery industry are quality control of products and processes, product certification, and performance analysis. PAC addresses these with Laboratory and Process analyzers that include PetroSpec mid-IR analyzers — analytical field instruments that help gasoline reformulators ensure compliance with regulations.

The Federal reformulated fuel program outlines requirements for maximum amounts of benzene and oxygenates in gasoline. PetroSpec units are capable of simultaneously evaluating benzene, toluene, xylene, oxygenate, total aromatic, olefin, saturate, octane (RON and MON), T50 and T90, DI, E200 and E300, and VOC levels.

Precise Measurement Ensures Quality

Refinery gas streams vary considerably in composition, making individual component determination in each gas stream a challenge. Exact measurement of stream components is essential to achieving optimum control and ensuring product quality. PAC analyzers determine and report the composition of refinery gas streams in minutes. They determine Nitrogen in Fuel Oil, which is critical since two primary concerns surrounding the regulation of nitrogen are the destructive impact of nitrogen on expensive catalyst during the desulfurization process and automobile NOx emissions.
