Advanced Sensors’ New Oil-in-Water Analyzers Ensure Accurate Hydrocarbon Monitoring of Produced Water
Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, U.K. (May 15, 2023) – Advanced Sensors has introduced the X-One and S-One Oil-in-Water Analyzers, which uses advanced sensing technology, including deep UV fluorescence for light oils and laser-induced florescence for crude oils, to detect the presence of oil and hydrocarbons in water samples. The X-One and S-One make it possible to effectively monitor environmental contamination across a wide range of industries.
Many industries involved with hydrocarbons—including onshore/offshore oil production and refineries—must monitor their discharge water to be sure they are not releasing hydrocarbons into the environment and that they optimize oil and water separation processes to reduce operation cost.
Advanced Sensors has been manufacturing reliable, online oil-in-water analyzers since 2005, when they developed the patented, anti-fouling capability to use ultrasonics to clean the measurement window. With this capability, analyzers measure hydrocarbons in water with minimum downtime in the oil and gas industry segment. With the X-One and S-One, Advanced Sensors has engineered a next-generation solution that addresses the changing needs of its customers.
Unlike anything else on the market, the new X-One and S-One analyzers can be calibrated to measure multiple oil components at the same time, such as benzene, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and total oil in water, with an accuracy of ±1%. Additionally, the analyzers incorporate more effective ultrasonic cleaning that extends time between routine service. The new fluorescence laser technology uses less power and has an expected lifecycle of double the previous generation.
Because reliable, accurate data can have a significant impact on the bottom line, the X-One and S-One are designed to act as a hub, capturing data from a range of other analyzers, including flow, density, and turbidity over Modbus or 4-20mA. This means the X-One/S-One controller can connect directly to an instrument such as a temperature or pressure sensor, bypassing the need for a PLC.
“The goal of the development of the X-One and S-One was to achieve unbeatable uptime and enable the analyzers to be fully interactive with the produced water ecosystem. At every level, Advanced Sensors delivered on this, and we have seen a positive reaction already from our customers. I am excited to say we have large pipeline of orders already,” said Dr. Connor Douglas, Head of Products for Process Solutions by PAC.
While the X-One is the EX rated model and the S-One is the safe-area model, both can be configured to measure in bypass and in-line for more information about the X-One and S-One oil in water analyzers. For more information, please visit the Advanced Sensors website at www.advancedsensors.co.uk.
About Advanced Sensors
Advanced Sensors revolutionized oil-in-water analyzers, bringing 100% measurement uptime and the ability to make real-time decisions to an industry segment that was previously characterized by unreliable measurements. Advanced Sensors has created a line of oil-in-water analyzers that are self-cleaning, ensuring that the measurement principle does not degrade over time. These leading products are used on oil and gas platforms, refineries, tank water storage facilities, and other applications in most countries that product and refine oil. Since 2005, Advanced Sensors has sold over 1500 instruments globally and is widely known as the top choice for reliable oil-in-water measurement.
