With an extremely high throughput of 60s average run time and small sample size of less than 1 ml, the ISL VH1 & VH2 Houillon viscometers automatically determine the kinematic viscosity of lubricating oils, used oils, fuels, polymers and similar materials in full compliance with ASTM D7279.

Product Overview

Using a “Houillon” capillary tube and in full compliance with ASTM D7279, ISL’s VH Series Viscometers automatically determine kinematic viscosity of lubricating oils, used oils, fuels, polymers, and similar materials over a wide viscosity range. Initially developed for lubricant blending facilities, research laboratories, and used oil monitoring where small sample size and quick results were required, the ISL VH viscometer offers exceptional performance, providing results in 60 seconds using less than 1 ml of sample.

The VH series of viscometers include:

  1. Model VH1: integrates a single solvent capacity for tube cleaning
  2. Model VH2: accommodates two solvents, offering added flexibility in solvent selection for efficient tube cleaning and drying and withstands the use of aggressive solvents

OPERATION

Analytical principle: Kinematic Viscosity by Glass Capillary (Houillon-Type)

Sample Volume: Less than 1ml

Sample Induction: Manual, by user pipettes sample, directly into the tube

Cycle Time and Throughput: Less than 10mn per test (typical, incl. cleaning), 4 test runs in simultaneously at same temperature

Capillaries: Houillon type capillary tubes as per standard D7279

Meniscus Detection/Timing: Optical Detection System

Bath Temperature: Stability: ±0.01°C

Bath Media: Silicone oil, 5 liters.

Bath Cabinet/Chassis : The VH1/2 glass bathes come with transparent plastic heat-touch protection.

VH1: all wetted material are made of glass, stainless steel and Viton, therefore can withstand normal cleaning solvents

VH2: all wetted material are made of glass, stainless steel and brass, Teflon or
Kalrez, therefore can withstand aggressive solvents.

Cleaning /Drying Mode: Automated under vacuum (not pressure) with programmable cycle parameters

VH1: one solvent

VH2: two solvents, resistant to aggressive solvents

QUALITY AND SAFETY FEATURES

Calibration and Diagnostics: Tubes calibration performed through the VH-PC software program

Bath Safety: Bath over-temperature protection (factory set at 130°C, can be user programmable between 20 and 140°C). VH1/2 Bathes have hot surface protection provided by outer cover tube.
