SIMDIS Analyzer Training
PAC Training Program – Rotterdam
The AC Analytical Controls® product line offers a range of high-tech analyzers for petrochemical sample streams, based on Gas Chromatography. Our products are user-friendly and easy-to-use, although the technique is complex. To improve your skills, obtain the best results, and completely understand your analyzer, PAC offers a complete program of factory, customized and on-site trainings. These courses are designed to assist operators and lab engineers in their day-to-day operation of PAC systems by providing the optimal mix between theory, practice, and hands-on training. Training improves laboratory productivity and the accuracy of instrument results.
SIMDIS Course Description
The 2-day SIMDIS training course is designed for new and experienced users of PAC products; however, a basic knowledge of gas chromatography is required. Class sizes are small, so the course is highly interactive and flexible. The courses consist of theoretical and practical sessions, including:
- System details, software and hardware application in a practical way
- Interpretation of results and discussion
- Troubleshooting and maintenance
- Calibration of the instrument
Detailed Program:
Day 1: Introduction and System Familiarization
- Inventory of sample streams and occurring problems
- Introduction to SIMIDS principle, Applicability to the petrochemical industry and Summary of SIMIDS methods
- Hardware demonstration on PTV / TPI, Detector, Column and Analysis conditions
- AC software introduction – installation and practice
- Preparations for high-temp calibration, sample analysis, and creating sequences
- Calibration of the system, generating an AC report, peak skew and resolution, review of automatic retention time updating
- Calculations and interpretation of results by endpoint determination – ASTM algorithm, product setup for various samples and sample types A, B, C
- Special features on user report, cut points, D86 correlation, Noack, MOV, Wax and quenching factor
Day 2: SIMDIS Software and Troubleshooting
- Practice calibration of HT SIMDIS with recovery calculation and normalization options
- System startup: electrical connections, gas connections, GC and autosampler configuration, installation of column and liner, installation of septum and syringe, and measuring flows
- Preparations for D2887 calibration and sample analysis by installing column and creating sequences
- Practice with data files of the HT SIMDIS samples
- Calibration of D2887 SIMDIS with recovery calculation and normalization options
- Troubleshooting error and warning messages, non-incremental boiling point order (blank not subtracted)
- Common chromatographic problems, e.g., baseline issues, contamination, leaks, electronic/mechanical failures, wrong sample type settings, etc.
- Maintenance
