Madico Uses Viscosity Measurement to Achieve Consistent Coatings

Madico, a global manufacturer of laminating and coating solutions, needed a more efficient way to manage viscosity for their high-tech applications in solar, photovoltaic, safety, and security. They replaced their existing viscometers with ViscoPro viscometers from Cambridge Viscosity by PAC. The patented self-cleaning design ensures continuous monitoring and operation without costly maintenance and frequent re-calibrations. The automated, in-line ViscoPro viscometers are integrated into the company’s programmable logic controller so that they can easily retrieve data and track performance.

Petroleum Institute of Mexico Uses SIMDIS to Determine True Boiling Point

The Petroleum Institute of Mexico evaluated several options for a simulated distillation solution through gas chromatography to calculate true boiling point (TBP) of upgraded crude oils. They selected PAC’s AC Analytical Controls gas chromatograph with SIMDIS, in part because of having a local representative: SICA, who offered exceptional support; and also because the SIMDIS software was a proven and accurate solution that required less than an hour for a complete analysis. The P.I.M. determined that the SIMDIS technology is a fast and reliable method for assessing the increased yield of valuable distillates in the upgraded heavy crude oil.

University of Michigan uses PAC’s Herzog CID 510 for Engine Simulations

PAC’ s Herzog Cetane Ignition Delay 510 was used in a research project at the University of Michigan Walter E. Lay Auto Lab, led by Professor Andre Boehman. Professor Boehman’s federally funded study is intended to support development of high efficiency diesel engines for Class 8 trucks. The work combined numerical simulation and in situ photography of combustion in the CID 510 to explore the response of different fuel blends to compression ignition. The CID is perfect for detailed comparisons between simulation and experiments, especially since we can look inside the Constant Volume Combustion Chamber.

Valero uses VIDA to Determine Density of Heavy Samples

Performing density analysis on heavy samples, such as black oils, fuel oils, fuel oil blends, and crude oil, can be difficult since they can be highly viscous. This creates at least two major issues: the sample must be heated prior to analysis and the thickness of the sample makes it difficult to clean the system. In this case study, we will show how the ISL VIDA was a better solution than the traditional hydrometer for determining the density of heavy samples at the Valero refinery lab in Meraux, LA, USA.

Cambridge Viscosity Helps Schlumberger Analyze Viscosity in Live Oil

DBR Technology Center, a division of Schlumberger Canada, provides quality phase behavior analysis on petroleum hydrocarbon fluids. One of the key attributes that the company needs to measure under high-pressure and controlled temperature conditions is viscosity. DBR recognized that Cambridge Viscosity by PAC had technology with characteristics of significant value in analyzing live oil and began mounting high-pressure versions of CVI 300 series sensors in its oil analysis system. CVI worked closely with DBR to modify and upgrade the viscometer design to meet DBR’s evolving requirements.
